Pipedrive

Sourcream writes each lead's first and last source, medium and campaign into custom fields on Pipedrive persons.

1. Connect

In Sourcream, open Integrations and choose Connect on Pipedrive. There are two ways to connect:

  • Sign in with Pipedrive (OAuth, recommended). Pipedrive asks you to approve the Sourcream app for your company. Use a Pipedrive user who can add custom fields (an admin is simplest).
  • API token. In Pipedrive, open your user menu, Personal preferences, API, copy your personal API token and paste it into Sourcream. Sourcream checks it straight away. The integration then acts as that user, so use a user who stays with the company.

How many integrations you can connect depends on your plan: one on Starter, three on Business, unlimited on Pro and Agency.

2. Fields

After connecting, Sourcream runs Setup: it lists your person fields and creates any missing Sourcream fields as text fields, named after each value with a "Sourcream" prefix, for example Sourcream First source, Sourcream Last medium and a field for the Sourcream visitor ID. Pipedrive gives each custom field a random key; Sourcream remembers which key belongs to which value, so you can rename the fields in Pipedrive afterwards without breaking anything. Setup only creates what is missing and is safe to run again from the integration's card.

The core set (first and last source, medium and campaign, plus the visitor ID) is sent on every plan. With the integration's Field set on Extended (Business plan and above), Setup also creates fields for term, content, channel, landing page, referrer and timestamp of each touch, the click ids (gclid, gbraid, wbraid, msclkid, fbclid, ttclid, li_fat_id) and the touch count. On Pro and Agency plans, Field mapping can send a value to one of your existing fields instead: use the field's API key, shown in Pipedrive under Company settings, Data fields.

3. How leads are written

  • Match by email (default): Sourcream searches persons by the exact email and updates the match. With Create when missing on, it creates a person (name, email, phone) when there is none. Needs the site's Capture mode set to Email, or a webhook or API lead that carries an email.
  • Match by visitor ID: Sourcream finds the person whose Sourcream visitor ID field equals the lead's visitor ID, retrying every 5 minutes for up to 24 hours while the person does not exist yet. Your form has to deliver sc_visitor_id into that field, which usually means a form tool that writes to Pipedrive directly (Zapier, for example).

First touch fields are only written when empty (turn on Overwrite first touch to change that); last touch fields, click ids and the visitor ID are written with every lead.

Pipedrive's own web forms and LeadBooster forms load inside an iframe, so the Sourcream script on your page cannot fill or watch them. Use your website's own forms with email matching.

4. Test

The integration's Send test lead button writes a person for [email protected] ("Sourcream Test", first touch google / cpc / test, last touch facebook / cpc / test). Delete it afterwards. The Deliveries log shows each delivery, its status and any error.

Disconnecting

Remove the integration in Sourcream to stop deliveries. The fields and their values stay in Pipedrive. With OAuth you can also uninstall the app in Pipedrive under Tools and apps, Marketplace apps; with an API token, regenerate the token in Pipedrive to revoke it.
